DIRECTORATE
The directorate consists of the office of the Executive Director who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Institute and the following units.
INTERNAL AUDIT
The unit is primarily aimed at providing management assurance that the institute accounting and internal control system are working satisfactorily on a day to day basis and confirmation that management responsibility to establish effective system within the Institute is being properly discharged.
Also, to support NSPRI management in achieving its mandates by making sure that financial transactions are made in compliance with stipulated rules and regulations, and to create an efficient and effective internal control system with a view to rendering satisfactory service that is fraud proof and making sure expected procedures are complied with at all times.
Internal Audit Functions
The functions of NSPRI Internal Audit unit includes but not limited to the following:
- Monitoring of Internal Control - The establishment of effective Internal Control is a responsibility of management which demand proper attention on continuous basis. Internal Audit therefore reviews these controls, monitor their operations and recommend improvement thereafter.
- Examination of financial and operating information – these includes review of the means used to identify measure, classify and report such information and specific enquiry into individual items including detailed testing of transactions balances and procedures.
- Review of economy, efficiency and effectiveness of operations including non financial controls of the organization.
- Review of compliance with laws and regulations such as financial regulations, Public Procurement Acts, Financial circulars and other external requirements with management policies and directives.
- Examination and periodic scrutiny of systems of authorization of payment to ensure sufficient control over expenditures.
- Verification of assets and liabilities at regular intervals.

PROCUREMENT
The Procurement Unit is under supervision of the Directorate in the Institute. The unit has responsibilities for day to day procurement of goods and services necessary for the operations of the Institute. Procurement is aimed at; achieving best value for money in terms of price and value, to ensure that procurement procedures are efficient, simple and swift, to give a level playing ground for all interested stalk holders, to establish rules and procedures that accessible, unambiguous and transparent to follow and to provide accountability and ethical standard. The Executive Director makes sure that provisions of the procurement act of 2007, and the regulations laid down by the Bureau of Public Procurement are complied with. The three levels of procurement in the Institute are; Civil works, Goods, and Services.

PUBLIC RELATIONS
Public Relation Unit is under the Directorate in the Institute Headquarter, Ilorin. This unit is saddled with the responsibility of improving the favourable image already built by the Institute through the use of PR tools. The Institute has both internal and external publics. These include, FMARD, ARCN, Research Institutes, State Governments, Agricultural Institutions, CBN, Banking Institutions, Agro-Allied Companies, Farmers, State Ministries of Agriculture, Women in Agriculture, Media Houses both Print and Electronics.
NSPRI PUBLIC RELATION AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- Promoting Institute’s image and Publicising its activities
- Maintaining mutual understanding between the Institute and its numerous publics
- Generating acceptance and support for the Institute’s policies and programmes
- Ensuring free flow of information in all directions within and outside the Institute so as to bridge Communication gaps
- Preparing and distributing news materials to accredited mass media.
