NSPRI organised a Training Programme for Senior Scientists
The Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI) conducted a focused one-day training program on project management for its senior research officers, principal technologists, and other high-ranking staff members. The training was aimed at refining project management competency within the institute.
The session commenced with an in-depth look at project management, acquainting participants with essential principles, methodologies, and best practices. This established a foundation for the effective implementation of projects, promoting productivity and synergistic teamwork. A pivotal part of the training involved workshops on forming the project team. Emphasis was placed on defining clear project scope, objectives, and deliverables to ensure a unified understanding and prevent potential project lapses.
The training also covered strategies for sourcing funds, where attendees learned to identify funding sources, draft persuasive grant proposals, and foster strategic alliances to support their research projects. Additionally, a master class in project management was provided, aimed at honing the leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills of the attendees. This segment was designed to reinforce a culture of project management excellence at NSPRI.
Overall, the bespoke training was crafted to enhance the project management capabilities of NSPRI’s senior staff, with a comprehensive curriculum that addressed core aspects of project management, team formation, funding acquisition, and leadership excellence. This initiative is anticipated to bolster the effectiveness of the institute’s research endeavors.
