NSPRI Celebrates Corps Members for Outstanding Performance
The Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI) has called on corps members to adopt a culture of excellence in their various places of primary assignment. This appeal was made during a ceremony held at NSPRI Ibadan Zonal Office on December 3, 2024, to honour two exemplary ex-corps members; Mr. Abdulzahir Olamide Alao and Mrs. Suliyat Adejoke Tijani-Ogundele, who served at the Institute. Representing NSPRI’s Executive Director, Professor Sanni Lateef Oladimeji, Engr. Dr Oyewole Shuaeeb Niyi commended the honourees for their exceptional dedication and contributions during their service year.
Dr. Oyewole highlighted the duo’s commitment to work and project execution, particularly within the Postharvest Engineering Research Department, where their sacrifices of time and personal resources stood out. He emphasized the importance of celebrating such individuals to inspire others, noting their rare qualities in a generation often criticized for impatience and a lack of long-term focus. “These outstanding corps members represent scattered oases in the desert of humanity, ”Dr. Oyewole remarked, stressing the need for more young Nigerians to emulate their exemplary work ethic.
The representative of the NYSC State Coordinator in Oyo State, Mrs. A. A. Adewa, praised NSPRI for recognizing the achievements of the ex-corps members. She lauded the honourees for their exceptional performance, attributing their success to strong upbringing and parental guidance, which she described as essential for national development.
The staff of NSPRI Ibadan Zonal Office also applauded the efforts of the celebrated corps members, urging current corps members to adopt similar values of discipline, commitment, and sincerity. They appealed to NSPRI’s Executive Director to consider the honourees for recruitment, emphasizing the need to retain such talented and dedicated individuals to strengthen the Institute’s workforce.
In their response, the honourees expressed gratitude to NSPRI for providing a welcoming and conducive environment during their service year. They acknowledged the support of the Zonal Coordinator, who they described as a fatherly figure, and appreciated the collaborative spirit of the staff in all departments. This event underscores NSPRI’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence among young Nigerians, aligning with its vision of national development through dedicated service and professional growth.
