NSPRI Collaborates IITA on Transformational Workshop
Nigeria Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI) has Collaborated its long time partner, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) on exceptional capacity building of their work force. The two-day transformational workshop held at NSPRI headquarters, Ilorin, on 6th-7th May,2024, set a new benchmark for staff development. Speaking at the workshop, the Executive Director of NSPRI, Professor Sanni Lateef Oladimeji said that staff should be encouraged to embrace a research ethos that dovetails scientific inquiry with commercial viability.
IITA dignitaries in attendance who started the learning expedition were those from Project Development and Administrative III Unit (PDAU) team including Mr. Kayode Awobajo, Mr. Taiwo Joseph, Mr Okome Ovegho and Mrs. Kikilomo Adekoya.
The workshop was graced with standout experience including the exploration of a sprawling 10-hectare cassava farm on NSPRI's grounds. This hands-on tour, accompanied by IITA's top brass offered NSPRI's team a tangible look at cutting-edge agricultural practices, underscoring the value of learning by doing.
The IITA team led a thought-provoking discussion and practical exercises which sparked a spirit of innovation amongst participants. At the end of the workshop, the staff were seen departing with more than just enhanced skills, but also with a reinvigorated passion to make a difference in Nigeria's agrarian economy. Professor Sanni who appreciated this initiative said it was a pivotal step towards empowering the minds that will shape the future of agriculture.
