NSPRI trains Researchers on Digital Tools for effective Research
The Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI) held a two-day intensive training session that focused on enhancing information literacy and advanced research skills among its young staff. The event was initiated by the Information and Documentation Department (Library) under the astute leadership of the Institute Executive Director, Prof. Lateef O. Sanni. The training was aimed at equipping young researchers with the necessary skills to effectively navigate the vast landscape of digital research tools.
The training was facilitated by the trio of Dr. Olawale Koladafe, Dr. Aderinola Dunmade, and Dr. Akinade Adewojo who are well grounded in the field of digital technology. Each facilitator brought a wealth of knowledge and practical experience, by ensuring that participants gained comprehensive insights into various aspects of modern research methodologies.The primary objective of the training was to enlighten young staff on the effective use of various search engines and research tools. One of the key advantages of this initiative was to enhance researchers' capabilities and productivity, thereby fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the institute. The experts introduced all participants to the core principles of identifying, locating, evaluating, and effectively using information. The event also highlighted the importance of critical thinking and analytical skills in conducting high-quality research.
The training was met with enthusiastic participation from the young staff, who appreciated the leadership of the institute for providing them with such opportunity to enhance their research skills. At the close of the program, participants were certain of their confidence to conduct effective and efficient research using the newly acquired tools and techniques.
