The Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI) has called on Nigerian researchers to embrace transformative and collaborative research. This was disclosed by the Executive Director of NSPRI, Prof. Sanni Oladimeji Lateef at a one-day Masterclass training held at the institute's headquarters, Ilorin, which was attended both physically and virtually. In his opening address, Prof. Sanni Oladimeji, an erudite professor of repute, highlighted the importance of the lecture series in fostering professional growth and development among researchers. Sanni, in his usual style praised the keynote speaker, Prof. Bolanle Otegbayo from Bowen University for her illustrious career and dedication to research which have singled her out for unequal difference.
In her speech, Prof. Otegbayo emphasized the transformative potential of collaboration in research, and urged researchers to break free from isolated work, and encouraged them to pool together their resources and expertise to tackle complex societal challenges. Bolanle noted that the world presently faces an increasing number of pressing issues that require innovative solutions, adding that the importance of shifting the focus of research from mere academic publications to creating tangible outcomes that benefit society cannot be overemphasized. In her opinion, Bolanle stressed that by working together, researchers can achieve breakthroughs that would be unattainable individually, leading to significant advancements in various fields.
Prof.Bolanle Otegbayo further encouraged NSPRI researchers to embrace continuous learning, innovation, and seek out partnerships both within and outside the academic sphere. In his submission, Prof.Sanni encouraged staff to be proactive in making the best use of every opportunity that comes their way, noting that "research work has the potential to shape the future and solve real-world problems.”
